First Impressions: @chloehupont with the Lomo LC-A+ & LomoChrome Lady Grey B&W 400

It's always fascinating to get to know young film photographers and learn about what got them into the craft. Lomographer @chloehupont was introduced to film photography through her dad's old camera (that he used when he was around her age!), and has continued shooting with film ever since. Recently she was able to try out Lomography Lady Grey B&W 400 and the Lomo LC-A+, and came up with a few creative multiple exposure shots featuring France and her friends.

We had a short chat about her film photography background and, of course, her experience with the Lomo LC-A+ and the Lomography Lady Grey B&W 400, her first time shooting in black and white!

How long have you been into film photography and what got you into it?

I started film photography three years ago when I was 19 years old. I knew what it was because my parents always talked about the way they used to take photos. I started getting more and more interested in photography in general. Once, I was in the garage looking for something in the boxes and found the camera my dad used when he was 20 years old, a Minolta Dynax 5xi. I took it and I started researching a bit more about film photography, and then I shot my first film and loved it so I kept going on with film. Every time I travel I like to make some special film shots, in my opinion it’s an amazing way to keep souvenirs.

How was the experience shooting with the LomoChrome Lady Grey B&W 400?

It was very nice! It was my first black and white film, as I always used color rolls. At first, I was scared my photos would be boring because I wouldn’t have any colors. But on the contrary, I loved the grain and the contrasts we can get with the Lady Grey, it’s very elegant and perfect for portraits or landscapes. I think it’s a film that’s very easy to use and we can have lots of fun with it!

Did you have specific themes in mind that you wanted to work on for the film roll?

I tested the Lomography Lady Grey B&W 400 with the Lomo LC-A+ and I was so excited to test both together, I had a lot of fun. It was also my first time using a film camera with a lot of creative features, and the one I was the most excited for was making multiple exposure photos! I think most of the images I made were with attempts of two or three photos per frame.

I didn’t have a specific idea in mind. I just took the camera with me wherever I went and took pictures of what inspired me or my friends, and I made a lot of multiple exposures!
