Joe Nigel Coleman: Western Australia and the Northern Territory with the Lomo'Instant Wide

Joe Nigel Coleman was already featured on Lomography after his trip to Tasmania and the Mojave Desert with the Lomo’Instant, where he rediscovered his passion for instant photography. This time, the Melbourne-based photographer took the Lomo’Instant Wide to explore Australia.

How was your experience with the Lomo’Instant Wide?

Like the Lomo'Instant, it's really great to have so much control. Being able to under or overexpose by one stop makes all the difference. Shooting in a larger format with the Lomo'Instant Wide is really great for me as it means my scans have a much higher resolution and print well at larger sizes. The ratio of Fuji Instax Wide also lends itself well to landscape shots.

Tell us more about your photo project in Australia?

I spent a month on the road with some good friends exploring Western Australia & The Northern Territory. It wasn't a project specifically, more a continuation of my ongoing effort to create images that capture what it's like to see these strange and wonderful sights.

You also went to India, was it a nice place to shoot?

India is an incredible place to take photos. I took a lot of portraits with the Lomo'Instant Wide, most of which I ended up giving away which was a fun thing to be able to do. I took this one of our walking guide and his mate at the peak of a mountain we climbed, he seemed pretty proud.

Your favorite picture?

I really like this shot I took of a native Australian Boab Tree after the sun had set and the moon was on the rise in the Kimberly.

Why did you think the Lomo’Instant Wide would be perfect to shoot during this trip?

I really like the colours/tones that you get from Fuji Instax Films, also, who doesn't like instant gratification?
