The first time I went to Venice it was November, it rained during those days and the tide was high. The phenomenon of "acqua alta" brings many inconveniences to inhabitants of Venice. There is no denying that the atmosphere was different, it was almost magical.
The light rain allowed to walk through the streets and the high boots to cross Piazza San Marco. Few people around the streets and canals. After five years I finally returned to this wonderful city. It was a wonderful sunny day but the experience was not so wonderful. There were too many people and most of them stopped to photograph every corner and take selfies. I saw more smartphones than water. I had to walk very slowly without enjoying the city due to people who stopped in the middle of bridges. I preferred to enjoy the city with my eyes, not through a display. I wonder if the inhabitants of Venice fear more tourists or high tide.
