Mannerheim line is a complex of fortifications on the Finnish part of the Karelian Isthmus. It was created in the years1920-1930 to deter a possible offensive attack from the Soviet Union to Finland. It’s named after Finnish Marshal Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim , on the orders which developed plans for the defense of the Karelian Isthmus in 1918.
