RESTS OF IDGZ ACE HIGH BASE

Wow! I learnt something new googling for this base and these antennas. Thanks - by coincidence I teach electronics at school and now I have some more stories to tell to kids :)
@rodiongork Troposcatter was a quite impressive (and conceptually crazy) way of sending information around the globe in my opinion! These installations can be found all around Europe: there should be the soviet counterpart of this network, but i can hardly find any information online. You might find one near you!
@discomac as I read in wiki the motivation for Troposcatter was to talk between NATO headquarters in different countries. This probably explains why it's hard to find "Soviet counterpart" - here army was communicating over the same country, heavily using dedicated land lines and radio relays. Not sure about far-distance radio (though there are few military LW transmitters - probably for submarines). Whatever mentions I found - they say tropo-com wasn't much tried before 90s (and I guess there was not much opportunity later). The most close thing I can remember is the "early warning" system which you could google by "Russian Woodpecker" phrase :)
