Insomnia, me, and a flash. I measured the shots, setup the framing, then marked the bed where I needed to lay to keep things in focus. I was very tired and did not get myself in the right spots very often so the shots, like me, were out of focus. Developed in Rodinal (Adox Adonal) at 1+50 for 7 minutes.
Much too angsty album!! Put Miles' "Kind of Blue" on stereo, have a little whisky with water, and look at soccer on TV with teams you've never heard of with sound off.
I don't like sports and can't drink but I can do the music part. Sometimes these self-portrait sessions late at night are fueled by pure insomnia and I just kind of do whatever my brain makes me do, sometimes with music in my ears, sometimes just silence. THis one was a whole lot of no sleep and frustration behind a tired man. I should have got a few stops smaller on the aperture to compensate for sloppy positioning for focus and to knock the flash down a bit more. That yellow postit did help both diffuse it and the yellow tone it put over the shot I think helped change the vibe of the BW shots. It was also my first Rodinal test and I really like the results of the develping so I'm going to do more of that.
