When I was in NZ many years ago, there were more sheep than people there. Is that still the case?

I'm not sure if that was the case in recent years, it may be. A downturn in the price of wool/lamb etc saw an upsurge in beef and dairy. I believe there is more sheep farmed in Australia now...
