Double Exposure Jungle

I made Double Exposure Jungle to test shooting on exposed film on the Lomokino. It worked out pretty good. I shot 4 rolls of our star Stacy, all on Lomography color negative film. I shot the backgrounds on my auto Reef Masrter SL201. The 4 rolls are presented from most successful to least successful. Every time I watch it I see something new. It's like the gift that keeps on giving.

The Segments:
1. WATERFALL OVER TREES – [Lomo 400 CN Film] Background is random photos of trees and tall grass shot in the late afternoon on the Kapalua disc golf course. The Lomo footage was filmed at the lower waterfall in twin falls. This turned out great. The trees and grass are very visible over the darkly lit cove.
2. SEARCHING OVER SUNSET - [Lomo 400 CN Film] Background is random photos of the sunset shot on the Kapalua disc golf course. The lomo footage was shot in the outer jungle by Twin Falls. Next time I’ll try out taking the photos vertically, but you can definitely see the sunset on one side of the frame while Stacy is searching around the shaded outer jungle.
3. DANCING OVER SUNRISE - [Lomo 100 CN Film] Background is one photo taken vertical 36+ times of the sunrise at S-Turns in Kahana. Lomo footage was at a jungle clearing at Twin Falls. I got a strange blue aura in the middle of the frame the same color as the sunrise.
4. FLYING OVER SUNRISE - [Lomo 100 CN Film] Background is one photo taken 36+ times of the sunrise over the West Maui Mountains through some palm tress and the highway. Some car headlights were the only thing that really came out. I cropped this one to 2.35:1 which turned out nice.

Conclusions:

As with any type of photography several factors contribute to a successful photo.

With that said: 400 film works better than 100 (presumably), sunset is better than sunrise for the background, the darker the environment you shoot your film the more the background will show up.

Much of this follows the basic principles of double exposure. More Tests to come…
