I was a silent guy when I entered the University of the Philippines. But after being initiated into the world of protest theater and street activism which practically shook and opened up my world, I gained confidence and courage to speak out and share my opinion and my views about politics, culture and anything under the sun. Bonifacio, the hero of the masses, was my hero and still is. My activism brought me to development and cultural work where I have until now opportunities to make a difference in the lives of the marginalized, the poor, the oppressed and struggling people. This album is in a way my tribute to the many people I have worked with and have inspired me - that in the hope of changing their lives they also changed mine. I photographed the monument to the katipuneros lead by Andres Bonifacio beside the Manila city Hall using a roll I previously exposed on experimenting with creative frames for my photos. Heroism is not only doing monumental deeds that transformed nations or the world. But it can manifest also in the little things we do each day and each moment of our lives that somehow make other people's lives much better and happier. And those little things add up to effect an impact - like the way when butterflies flap their wings.
