Share to us your most memorable experience in the Lomographic Community.
There are too many memorable experiences. I just can’t mention it one by one. I remember when I got my first LHOTD back on 2008 – I was hanging out with my friends then Marko (@mgf) texted me, “Adi, you’re LHOTD today.. Congrats!” I replied “LHOTD? What is LHOTD?” and he replied “LomoHome of the Day”. I was like “WOOOOOOOOW” because I just joined the Lomographic Community and surprisingly I was LHOTD. I never thought of that when I joined this Community on 2007. LHOTD on the old Lomography site was my most memorable experience in the Lomographic Community because that’s my first big step in Lomography. First things are memorable. Thank you Lomography for giving me the chance!
Have you actually met people in the Community that you now consider as close friends? If yes, name at least one of them.
Yes, on early 2011 Sherwin (antibiotyx) and Gic (
imnotgic) visited Bandung. I met Sherwin in the Community and meeting him in Bandung was awesome! He shared many analogue tips, he is one talented Lomographer!
After Sherwin and Gic, I met Johann (johannaffendy) and his wife. He visited Bandung for honeymoon and we just spent good times in Bandung. Long before, Johann and I were close friends. We shared a lot of things in common but the most important thing is Lomography of course. When I met him, he talked about Lomography so much, this man is really really passionate about Lomography, so there’s no surprise that Johann now works for Lomography. The man is living his dreams! And now I consider him as a big brother. Kakak Johann! After Johann, I should’ve met Is (
eastmoe). Another legendary Lomographer from Malaysia! But because of my post grad classes, I didn’t meet him. Is met another Bandung Lomographer like Panji (panjihardjakaprabon) and Marko (
mgf). Speaking of Panji and Marko, these two Lomographers are my buddies. They actually introduced me to the world of Lomography back on 2007. We are in the same university, same faculty, and sometimes even the same classes! On this occasion, I would like to thank them! Terima kasih, Teman!
On January 2012, two ladies from Singapore visited Bandung. Gosh! Bandung is really a nice city to visit. They’re Shareen (quaisoir) and Liza (
stonefairy)! Shareen and Liza who are Bandung Lomographers went to a Lomowalk and it was so much fun! It was a GOOD TIME! We talked about a lot of cameras and films. Shareen and Liza are really funny! I laughed out loud every time they made a joke! Panji, Shareen and Liza will make your day full of laughter, I had that kind of day and it was awesome! I just remember this quote “Keep calm and carry on” and we somehow just keep saying “Keep calm…” for many times and we laughed like crazy, we were not drunk but we had so much fun! Haha.
I have a close friend in the Community but we never met. She is Dasha (@japsix). She helped me a lot during my starting point in the Lomographic Community. Thanks dear!
I have to mention Bandung Lomographers: From Panji, Marko, Yoga (istionojr), Chris (
kuryzu),Oki (ngoki), Shie (
shielladwnd), Zoltan (08thzolt), Rain (raintanumadia) Enem (
KLNM), Oki (aokisetiawan) Abi (
didijitalsin), Lukman (mikejugalukman) Bram (
debi4n) to Ridwan (@ridwanfals). Yeah, it’s been years we rock Bandung with Lomography!
I have many friends here, we basically talk in messages and end up doing doubles. That’s the very fun part of this Community. Doing doubles with Arip (ripsta), Mery (
atria007), Dirk (lomodirk), Pui (
dakadev_pui), Ina (sandkorn), Noe (
deprofundis), Mario (goonies) and Julija (
Neja) was really a great experience. I learn a lot every time I do doubles! Oh yeah, sneak peek.. I will do some doubles with Erick (@icuresick) ! Just wait and see!
There are other good friends I’d like to meet in real life and do some Lomowalks with like ==dakadev_pui,== @==eva_eva,== @==elvismartinezsmith,== @==mikahsupahgeek,== , @==jeabbzz== ,
warning, @wuxiong, @disdis, @lawypop, @grad , @satomi, @itisanormalname @inine (who helped me a lot for my India trip, thanks bro!) and many more. Finally I want to meet my gurus, @vicuna @upic, @Stouf @maxpinckers @wil6ka @singlelderly @hodachrome and @anarchy. They have inspired me so much in Lomography.
Do you think you’ll still be taking Lomographs in the next 5 years? Why?
Of course! Why? I love Lomography and I love shooting. Shooting makes me happy! That’s why I will be taking Lomographs in the next 5 to 10 years to document all things in my life. Lomographs help me remember things that’s why I do the wide diary using LC-Wide. To remember things in my life. I hope Lomography will continue their line of films especially Lomography X-pro. I love slide film! who doesn’t anyway? X-pro! X-pro! X-pro!
What is your favorite Lomo camera and why? Do you have any memorable experiences while using this camera?
This is a tough question. I have three favorite Lomo camera but there’s a memorable experience while using Horizon Perfekt. It was on February 2012, I was in India and traveling all alone. It was a great experience! India is indeed incredible. I always remember that every time I walked with my Horizon Perfekt. People ask me “ What is that?”, I received so many “What is that?” and much much many “Good camera, bro!”, “Great camera, sir!”. Horizon Perfekt is really a charming camera, everybody wants to know this camera! Even in Udaipur, people tried Horizon Perfekt and goes “What’s that water on the viewfinder?”, “What kind of result when using this kind of camera?”.. I answered them patiently and ending up “Hey man, please take a photograph of me!”. That’s really a memorable experience! I don’t know how many people said to me “Great camera, man”. I think India loves Horizon Perfekt and we all love Horizon Perfekt, don’t we? My quote is “Everything will be perfect with Horizon Perfekt”. Perfekt!
Is there any advice you can give to new analogue shooters?
Don’t think just shoot! Shoot, shoot and shoot! Shooting makes us happy! Therefore you have to shoot someone else and share the love of Lomography. Just have fun! Don’t think too much and just have fun with your camera, Shoot everything, anytime, anywhere and everywhere! Don’t forget to use flash and don’t forget to shoot yourself! Just let loose and enjoy shooting! Yeah, If it feels good, just do it! Hahaha. Oh yeah, buy tons of slide films! That’s an advice for me and everybody. Come on let’s have fun with Lomography!
They are the ones whose passion transcends not only by what they do and say, but also with what they see and capture with their film cameras. And with such attributes aforementioned, they are what we call LomoGurus! Every week, we get to ask questions and reveal some insights with the most talented and productive of all Lomographers from the community!
