175 Years of Petzval Legacy Competition Winners

Last year, we celebrated the 175th anniversary of the legendary Petzval with a grand competition featuring photographs taken with Lomography’s rendition of this revolutionary optics: the New Petzval 85 Art Lens. We received almost 600 show-stopping entries, which went under the keen scrutiny of a panel from Lomography and guest judges Geoffrey Berliner, executive director of Penumbra Foundation, Chris Pollard, Matthieu Soudet, and Issa Ng.

Choosing the top photos was a tough call given the variety of techniques and creative twists the participants used to highlight the lens’ signature swirl. And after a long deliberation, here are the winning Petzval masterpieces.

First Place:

For bagging our top prize, @nathalierichard will receive New Petzval 58 Art Lens and a voucher worth 800 EUR for the Lomography online shop. As a bonus prize*, she will also be featured in Milk Magazine, a weekly youth magazine in Hong Kong.

Second Place:

@jasonmoore wins a voucher worth 600 EUR for the Lomography online shop.

Third Place:

A voucher worth 300 EUR for the Lomography online shop will go to lomographer @ssaii.

Seven Runners-up:

Our lucky runners-up will get a voucher worth 100 EUR for Lomography online shop.
