@mike1allison Thank you again ! I always go hyperfocal with the 28mm, F5.6 - 5 meters and everything is cristal clear from 2.5m to infinity. That's why 28mm is definitely my favorite focal length.

Yes I find myself going with 28mm quite a bit for the same reason, when I'm out I can just set it and go and it works in most settings. I need to work on seeing the depth better and shooting from a bit more distance. 45mm is about the most I want to go unless I need something specific.

@mike1allison With the Minolta I mostly use the 35mm because I don't have a Minolta 28mm. With the Olympus, Konica and Fuji I often use the 28mm. 28mm is very versatile, I find the 35mm too close to the 50mm. Usually I carry a 28mm and a 50 or 55mm for each camera I travel with, that's all. If I carry just one camera without a bag, I have a 35-70 f4 for the Olympus and a 28-85mm f3.5-4.5 for the minolta but I don't really appreciate zoom lenses.

I like the short zooms - under 75 or 80mm, but I overuse them. I have a soligor 21mm and a super lentar 28mm both of those are t4 mounts so I can use them on multiple cameras - although I'm getting pretty happy with Nikon these days. Or I can run the 28 on my hanimex but since I found it, the mirror is acting up. I just need a pentax lol...

@mike1allison Short zooms can be useful. I like the Zuiko 35-70 f4 (constant aperture is great), it is relatively compact and light and delivers really sharp images. But I find zooms to distracting. Although it is quite sharp also, I don't like the Vivitar 28-85mm f3.5-4.5. I don't find the "pump" single ring convenient. It never stays in position and protrudes a lot, making the bundle unbalanced and bulky.
I used to have Nikon film cameras when I was a reporter, I also had digital Nikon cameras. But today I find them overpriced especially the lenses. Anyway if I come across a good FM or F2 with a decent price tag... I may purchase it.

I grabbed a N65 camera off the i-net for 20 bucks, it had the 28-80 AF Nikkor zoom, which is a full frame film lens. Nikkor doesn't mean much any more, but it is fun to have a fully AF lens. I have a couple DX lens, but I stay with the AI lenses for the most part. I get some focus confirmation but the rest is manual. The stuff I'm finishing tonight and uploading is through the F4 with that lens. I also use the 50mm Nikon prime lens when I'm driving, although I find more and more I'm staying with the 28mm. I will try to get my MIR 1 running through my EOS film camera, we'll see how that goes. I have my Jupiter 12 on my Kiev and I need to develop that roll.... I haven't seen that on film yet, great on digital.... My best russian lenses are RF Contax/Kiev- except the MIR. I hope I find a vehicle for that lens...
