Behind the scenes

So this is the homemade mask I shot the two rolls in this album with. I found a photo of rusty old metal sheeting, printed it out onto a sheet of transparency film, cut it to size and taped it to the 6x12 frame in the back of my Belair. For the 35mm roll, I used foam to hold the film canister in place, put black tape over the film-counter window, and wound four half-turns between shots. It was a 400 ISO film exposed as 100, and the medium-format roll was 800 exposed as 200. I should have dropped them down to 50 and 100 respectively, 'cause most shots are underexposed, but hey. The mask was supposed to add a rusty texture to the shots, but the effect is actually more like dried bloodstains - hence the album title. Thanks for lookin'...!
