Historical area, where the city began. Surrounded by the extant (10-12 meters high) earthen rampart of the ancient Kremlin and rising above him the heads of the Assumption Cathedral is a monument to the founder of the city of Rostov-Suzdal Prince Yury Dolgoruky.

Dmitrov and Moscow were founded one father - Prince Yuri Dolgoruky. As the chronicle, the city was founded in 1154.

Monument to Yuri Dolgoruky in Dmitrov, cast in bronze, but was implemented without a horse, unlike the well-known Dolgoruky on Tverskaya Square in Moscow.
The sculpture is carved Tserkovnikov Vadim, who believes that without a horse Dolgoruky looks more democratic, corresponding to the real image of the famous historical figure.

According to legend, it was here that Yury Dolgoruky was told about the birth of his son Dmitri, after which the city laid. It is known that the city of Dmitrov, according to the research of archaeologists, much older than Moscow.
