Voznesenskaya Gorka — historical place of Yekaterinburg.
View of the monument to Komsomol of Ural (in the foreground) and the Church «Savior on Blood» (in the background).
The hill and the square on its top are called Voznesensky in honor of the Temple of the Ascension of the Lord on it (not visible from the viewpoint of the photo) - the oldest surviving in the city.
This square had different contradictory names - first Voznesenskaya, under Soviet power - Komsomolskaya, and from 1919 it was called the Square of People's Vengeance - in memory of the execution of the royal family near this place. But now only the monument to the Komsomol of the Urals has remained from the communist component in the square, and the name Voznesenskaya has been returned.
A crowded area will not name - it is used mainly for passage. It offers a good view of the Church «Savior on Blood» (built on the site of rasstrela by the Bolsheviks of the family of Emperor) and the city as a whole.
