Don't Think, Just Shoot with the LomoKino by Community LomoAmigo Kathepalacio
12 24 Share TweetWe have always believed in the Lomography Golden Rule “Don’t think, just shoot!” when it comes to taking Lomographs. If so, then why don’t apply it when making LomoKino movies, too?
It sure is a fun and brilliant idea just like what Kathe have experienced with her LomoKino — tried to plan her films but always ends up in random events!
Well, she sure had fun and the results are amazing nonetheless! So come on and read our interview with this young lady as she is this week’s Community LomoKino LomoAmigo.

Tell us about yourself. What do you do for a living? What are your interests?
Hola! I’m Kathe, an industrial design student almost finishing her career. What I do at this time? Just studying and Lomographing at home, at university, at the street, with friends, with my cat or alone, anywhere, anytime! Lately I’ve been also very interested about learning a lot of languages, currently I started with Italian and German.
How long have you been a Lomographer and how did you find out about the Community?
Well, I started discovering the Community because my friend v3ml had a really nice pink Holga and I was really curious about it, she told me a lot about this camera and then I got my first analogue camera nine months ago and then we started having fun!
But I consider myself a Lomographer about seven months ago when I got my first Lomography’s camera: the La Sardina, which was a little present from wil6ka , since that time I couldn’t stop taking photos, getting, and discovering new cameras and taking them everywhere!
Describe the LomoKino in five words.
Little story teller surprising friend!
How did you like shooting with the LomoKino?
Most of the time I imagine stories and I think about making a storyboard, but I never end up making that (someday I will), I always find myself making short movies with it at unexpected moments, just when I feel it is the right instant to take her out !
What or who has inspired you to purchase and use the LomoKino?
When I was buying a camera at the online shop, I thought – why not adding a LomoKino to my cart? I wanted to see what I could do with it on my hands rotating that crank!
Kathe’s Labyrinth of Dreams
Any funny or strange encounters you’ve had with it?
Nothing relevant, people get too much curious when I start making a movie, before continuing using it, I always have to answer some questions of how this little camera makes its magic.
If you could shoot any person alive or dead (or imaginary) with your LomoKino, who would it be and why?
I would love to shoot Harpo Marx (a mute funny character that most of the times was chasing women on his movies) and Charlie Chaplin the great comic moustache guy making a silent silly movie for non-stop laughter. I think that combination would be a great idea!
Kindly share to us any LomoKino movie you love the most.
Haha, when I saw this movie, I couldn’t stop laughing. It was a motivation for me to make more movies and after that goonies and cryboy are really good LomoFriends of mine.
In my opinion, this one is really funny and creative:

I love funny LomoKino movies!
Any future plans with your LomoKino? More shoots or a full-length film perhaps?
As I said before, I have a lot of funny stories in mind, I know I will make them, also I have a surprise project in collaboration with goonies, let’s see what happens. ;)
Your advice to future LomoKino users.
At the beginning I lost a lot of frames making my movies, it was a little hard for me to focus well, nevertheless results with it are amazing, is just a question of learning what this little camera can catch, also it’s very important to make your movies with different types of films to find out which one makes you love her even more, I was very glad after trying black and white film because it gives a very special old-time touch to the movies. There are a lot of stories to tell, go beyond!
